Paramecium caudatum is large enough to observe and hardy enough to do well in a classroom environment.

Students will make the elodea mount with a drop of the paramecium culture.

Madagascar hissing cockroaches may be available at pet stores for purchase or at local schools, zoos, or museums to borrow.

Do not release the Madagascar hissing cockroaches into the local environment. See suggestions for care after the course in Materials, Planning for Live Organisms.
