Swamp: Bromeliad

A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist examines a plant called a bromeliad in Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service maintains wildlife refuges to preserve almost every type of habitat needed for the survival of fish and wildlife. Southern refuges, like Georgia's Okefenokee, include bayous, flooded bottomland, hardwood areas, swamps, and coastal estuaries. They provide important habitats for waterfowl and for such tropical plant species as this bromeliad.
