Kauai in the Pacific Ocean

This photo was taken from the Space Shuttle as it flew over the island of Kauai. Kauai is the oldest and fourth largest of the Hawaiian Islands. It is the wettest spot on Earth, with an annual average of 11,648 mm (460 inches) of precipitation on its east side at Mount Waialeale. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean.
