Seashore: Green Sea Turtle

The green sea turtle is one of seven species of sea turtles, all of which are on the U.S. Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants List. Sea turtles spend most of their lives in the ocean. Females come ashore on beaches to nest and lay eggs. People have threatened their nesting areas by recreational use of coastal waters and by building homes. Poaching has also reduced the number of green sea turtles.
