Silk Moth Larvae Spinning

Here is a silkworm larva spinning a cocoon in preparation to become a pupa. As the larva spins, you can often see its body getting shorter, fatter, and waxy-looking. Usually, the cocoons are white, but sometimes they will spin yellow silk. The process of spinning a cocoon will take many hours.
