Black Box
The object of this activity is to determine the shape that is hidden within the grid by probing it with a laser.
- The red grid is hiding an object. The shape of the object is shown in the box in the top right corner. The probe is the laser pointing to the grid.
- Click on the laser to send out a beam.
- If nothing is there, the beam will travel in a straight line across the grid
- If the beam hits a wall, it will bounce straight back.
- If the beam hits an angled wall, it will change direction to the right or left.

- To move the laser, click on it. Then while holding down the mouse, drag it to a new position. You cannot probe the corners.
- Use the markers to the right of the grid to mark the results of your probe. Click on the marker you want to use. A blue arrow will show your choice. Click on the square or squares to place this marker. You can replace markers on the grid at any time. To remove a marker use the "empty" marker.
- When you think you know the shape of the object, make sure the outline of the object is complete. Then click "Guess." The object does not have to be completely filled but must have a solid outline.
- You have 115 beams total to see how many of the eight levels you can figure out. After you complete each level, the next level will be loaded automatically. As the levels increase, the shapes get harder and the number of shapes change. In the final three levels, the laser beam is shown entering and exiting the grid but the path inside the grid is not shown.
- You can go directly to a level from the Level drop-down menu. Once you select from the drop-down menu, the game will only end when you run out of ammo.
