Setting up your computer: Test your browser

To take advantage of the rich repository of resources on FOSSweb, your computer needs to meet the minimum technical requirements outlined below. To see if your computer is running the correct plug-in or to download a plugin, click the corresponding link.

FOSSWeb and FOSS Multimedia applications are supported on the following configurations:

Operating Systems	PC	Windows XP, Vista or 7
Operating Systems	Mac	OS 10.2.8 or later
Browsers	PC	IE 6.0 or later Firefox 1.5 or later	Please note that two security settings (on Flash Player and ActiveX Controls) could interfere with the use of FOSS CD-ROMS or FOSSweb Flash activities on PCs and Macs. Click for the FOSS Mac and PC Security Updates.
Browsers	Mac	Safari 1.0 or later Firefox 1.5 or later
Flash	Version 9.0 or later		Required for all modules K-6 and Middle School courses
Quicktime	Version 7.0 or later		Required for all modules K-6 and Middle School courses
Shockwave	PC	Version 11 or higher	Required for 3-6 modules and some Middle School courses
	Intel-based Macs	Version 11.5 or higher
	PowerPC Mac	Version 10
Adobe Reader	Version 8 or higher		Required to download and view duplication masters and other teacher resources
iTunes	Version 7 or later		Required to download audio stories from iTunes U
