Plum Crater was visited by the astronauts of the Apollo 16 lunar-landing mission on their first extravehicular activity on April 21, 1972. Astronaut Charles M. Duke Jr., lunar module pilot, collects lunar rock samples. The lunar roving vehicle is parked on the far side of the crater. Astronaut John W. Young, Commander, took the picture.
